Philippine Embassy in Islamabad Welcomes New Embassy Personnel

ISLAMABAD, 1 June 2026 —The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Islamabad formally welcomed Ms. Clarence G. Ong as the Embassy’s new Communications and Records Officer following her arrival in Islamabad in the evening of 27 May 2026. Ms. Ong will also serve as the Embassy’s Protocol Officer and Secretary to the Ambassador, assuming key responsibilities that will further strengthen the Embassy’s communications, records management, protocol, and administrative operations.

Following the Eid ul Adha holidays, H.E. Ambassador Emmanuel R. Fernandez warmly received Ms. Ong as the newest member of the Philippine Embassy Team. Embassy personnel likewise extended their welcome and best wishes as she officially assumed her duties and new assignment in Pakistan.

The arrival of Ms. Ong comes at a significant time for the Embassy, which has been working under staffing constraints and increased operational demands. Her decision to immediately report to Post reflects dedication and commitment to public service, particularly as the Embassy continues to strengthen its consular, diplomatic, administrative, and public diplomacy functions.

In accepting her assignment, Ms. Ong also made the difficult personal sacrifice of temporarily leaving behind her spouse and dependent children in the Philippines pending the processing of their visas—an example of the quiet but profound sacrifices often made by foreign service personnel and their families in service of the nation abroad.

The Philippine Embassy expressed optimism that Ms. Ong’s experience, professionalism, and commitment will greatly contribute to the Embassy’s continuing work in advancing Philippine interests, serving the Filipino community, and strengthening Philippines–Pakistan relations.

As the Embassy continues its mission in Pakistan, the arrival of Ms. Ong serves as a reminder that diplomacy is sustained not only by policy and representation, but also by the dedication, resilience, and sacrifice of the people who serve behind the scenes in the name of country and community. END
