Philippine Embassy Brings Consular and Overseas Voting Services Closer to Filipinos in Lahore

LAHORE, 11 October 2026—The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad, in cooperation with the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Lahore, successfully conducted a two-day consular outreach mission at the Honorary Consulate Office at the Aadil Hospital Building, Lahore, bringing essential government services closer to Filipinos residing in Lahore and surrounding areas.

The mission formed part of the Embassy’s continuing efforts to improve the accessibility of consular services and strengthen engagement with Filipino communities across Pakistan, particularly those residing outside Islamabad.

During the two-day mission, the Embassy processed 95 overseas voter registration applications, 12 passport applications, 12 civil registry cases, three (3) acknowledgements of contracts, and one (1) acknowledgement of a job order. The Consular Team also provided assistance and consultations on passport, civil registry, overseas voting, and other consular concerns.

Notably, the majority of clients served were women, reflecting the significant presence of Filipino women within the local community. Their participation underscored the importance of accessible, gender-responsive consular services that address their documentation needs and contribute to their continued protection and welfare.

Philippine Honorary Consul in Lahore Mr. Fahdel Sheikh also hosted a gathering with members of the Filipino community, providing an opportunity for interaction with the visiting Embassy delegation and discussions on matters affecting Filipinos in the area.

The gathering also introduced newly assigned Philippine Embassy officials, including Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Col. Exequiel L. Tidor PA (GSC) and MSgt. Pedro G. Mangulad, Jr. PN (M), Administrative Assistant at the Office of the Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attaché (OPhilDAFA).

In his remarks, Col. Tidor likewise encouraged members of the community to maintain open communication with Philippine authorities and strengthen mutual support, emphasizing that close coordination between Philippine institutions and the Filipino community is essential to ensuring their continued safety and well-being.

Throughout the Mission, the Consular Team emphasized, through their services, that the Philippine Embassy, the OPhilDAFA, and the Honorary Consulate in Lahore work hand in hand to promote the safety, security, and welfare of Filipinos abroad, particularly Filipino women in Pakistan. It recognized Filipino women as a source of national pride whose resilience, contributions to their families and communities, and economic support, including through remittances, form part of the broader contributions of overseas Filipinos to Philippine development.

The consular mission was led by Administrative Officer and Attaché Christian Glenn B. Baggas, together with Consular Assistant Richelle Carlo L. Villaflor, and Locally-Engaged Foreign Service Staff Billy S. Aguilar and Hamza Ali Khan.

The Philippine Embassy remains committed to delivering accessible, responsive, and gender-sensitive consular services while strengthening institutional cooperation and community engagement to safeguard the rights and welfare of overseas Filipinos throughout Pakistan. END
