ISLAMABAD, 1 September 2026—Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez and Mme. Alicia Kalaw-Fernandez attended a diplomatic reception hosted by H.E. Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, on 1 September to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Independence.
The reception was graced by Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Federal Minister for Power, as Chief Guest, and brought together senior Pakistani government officials, parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, and other distinguished guests.
Ambassador Fernandez and Mme. Fernandez conveyed their warmest felicitations to Ambassador Tukhtaev and the people of Uzbekistan on the occasion of their National Day. The evening also provided an opportunity for Ambassador Fernandez to network with fellow members of the diplomatic community and celebrate the longstanding friendship between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
In his remarks, Ambassador Tukhtaev highlighted the growing strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, including expanding cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, energy, and people-to-people exchanges. The celebration also showcased Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage and its remarkable progress and transformation in recent years.
The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad joins the Government and people of Uzbekistan in celebrating this important national occasion and wishes Uzbekistan continued peace, prosperity, and progress.
The Philippines looks forward to further strengthening its friendly relations and cooperation with Uzbekistan, including through greater exchanges in trade, tourism, culture, education, and other areas of mutual interest. END
