ISLAMABAD, 14 August 2026—Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, accompanied by his wife, Mme. Alicia Kalaw-Fernandez, joined the 79th Independence Day celebration of Pakistan held at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad on 14 August 2026.

The celebration, organized as part of Pakistan’s Independence Day festivities, was graced by the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan as Chief Guest and attended by Ambassadors and High Commissioners of numerous countries, senior government officials, other members of the diplomatic corps and distinguished guests.

The program featured a special presentation of Kalam-e-Iqbal, a stirring rendition of Sohni Dharti, followed by a “Tribute to Legends” finale featuring such beloved Pakistani songs as Ye Watan Tumhara Hai, Sohni Dharti, Khayal Rakhna, and Jeeway Jeeway. The ceremony concluded with the national anthem performed by the Pakistan Army Band.

Ambassador Fernandez conveyed his warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Government and people of Pakistan on this significant national occasion, reaffirming the Philippines’ appreciation for the longstanding friendship and close ties between the two countries. END
