ISLAMABAD, 14 August 2026 — Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, accompanied by his wife, Mme. Alicia Kalaw-Fernandez, joined the leadership, management, and staff of Maroof International Hospital (MIH) in celebrating Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.
The Ambassador’s participation underscored the importance the Philippines attaches to people-to-people relations as a vital pillar of the longstanding friendship between the Philippines and Pakistan. He congratulated the Pakistani people on their national day and highlighted the shared bonds of friendship and goodwill that connect the two countries.
During the visit, Ambassador Fernandez and Mme. Kalaw-Fernandez toured MIH and its Early Intervention Therapy Unit at Silver Oaks, where they were briefed on the hospital’s healthcare and rehabilitation services. The celebration featured the playing of the national anthems of both Pakistan and the Philippines, symbolizing the warm ties between the two peoples.
Ambassador Fernandez also received an appreciation shield from MIH Chairman Ch. Naseer Ahmed, CEO Haroon Naseer, and Dr. Mir Abdul Waheed in recognition of his participation in the celebration.
