Philippine Embassy in Islamabad Receives Courtesy Call from Asian Development Bank Officials

ISLAMABAD, 17 June 2026 —The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad welcomed officials from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Pakistan Resident Mission during a courtesy call that highlighted the longstanding relationship between the Philippines and ADB, as well as the shared commitment to development and regional cooperation.

The ADB delegation was led by Mr. Syed Hussain Haider, Deputy Country Director, and Mr. Mohammad Tarif Khan, Associate Logistics Management Officer. They were received by Ambassador Emmanuel R. Fernandez, accompanied by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Rain R. Mendoza and Consular Assistant Richelle Carlo L. Villaflor.

During the meeting, Mr. Haider reflected on his long personal and professional association with the Philippines, where he spent many years working with ADB. He shared his appreciation for the country’s hospitality and the strong connections he and his family have developed with Filipino communities over the years.

Ambassador Fernandez reaffirmed the Philippines’ enduring support for ADB and its important role in promoting sustainable development across Asia and the Pacific. He also expressed appreciation for ADB’s extensive work in Pakistan and its contributions to economic growth, infrastructure development, and regional cooperation.

The discussion touched on opportunities to further strengthen engagement between the Embassy and ADB, facilitate exchanges involving ADB programs and activities, and promote closer people-to-people connections between the Philippines and Pakistan.

The meeting also highlighted the shared values of hospitality, resilience, and community that characterize both Filipinos and Pakistanis. Both sides expressed their readiness to continue close coordination and explore future areas of cooperation.

The courtesy call concluded with a reaffirmation of the strong partnership between the Philippines and ADB and a shared commitment to fostering greater understanding and collaboration in the region. END
