ISLAMABAD, 2 June 2026 —The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Islamabad held a warm and heartfelt despedida gathering in honor of First Secretary and Consul Juan Paolo G. Alix at the Ambassador’s Residence.
Hosted by H.E. Ambassador Emmanuel R. Fernandez and Mme. Alicia Kalaw-Fernandez, the informal fellowship brought together Embassy personnel, attached agencies, and colleagues to celebrate Consul Alix’s service, professionalism, and contributions to the Philippine Embassy during his tour of duty in Pakistan.
Fondly referred to by colleagues and friends as “Consul JP,” Mr. Alix was recognized throughout the program for being hardworking, dependable, analytical, strategic, and exceptionally dedicated to public service. Embassy personnel likewise shared personal reflections and messages highlighting his generosity, industriousness, quick thinking, sound judgment, and calm professionalism even under pressure.
As part of the program, colleagues participated in a lighthearted “How Well Do You Know Consul JP?” segment, followed by farewell messages from Embassy officers and staff who spoke about the positive impact of his leadership and collegiality within the Embassy team.
In his remarks, Ambassador Fernandez expressed his deep appreciation for Consul Alix’s work ethic and professionalism, sharing that Consul Alix was among the reasons he felt reassured and confident about his posting to Pakistan. The Ambassador noted that Consul Alix provided him with a logical, realistic, and analytical understanding of the situation in Pakistan, which greatly helped him navigate his early months at Post.
The Ambassador also commended Consul Alix’s manner of work, describing him as a reliable and strategic officer whose contributions significantly strengthened the Embassy’s operations and teamwork.
A Plaque of Appreciation was likewise presented by Ambassador Fernandez to Consul Alix in recognition of his dedicated service and meaningful contributions to the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad.
In his response, Consul Alix expressed gratitude to Ambassador Fernandez, Mme. Kalaw-Fernandez, and the entire Embassy team for their support, friendship, and camaraderie throughout his posting. He also shared words of encouragement and advice to newly arrived Embassy personnel, particularly Ms. Clarence G. Ong, who recently assumed her duties as the Embassy’s Communications and Records Officer, Protocol Officer, and Secretary to the Ambassador.
The gathering reflected the strong sense of community, professionalism, and mutual support within the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad, while honoring the service of an officer whose dedication and leadership left a lasting and meaningful impact on Post and its personnel. END
