ISLAMABAD, 19 May 2026 — Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, together with his spouse, Mme. Alicia Kalaw-Fernandez, attended the Australia Day in Spring Reception hosted by the Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, H.E. Timothy Kane, at the Australian Official Residence in Islamabad.

The reception brought together members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials, members of the business community, and other distinguished guests in celebration of Australia Day in Spring, highlighting Australia’s friendship and engagement with Pakistan and the international community.

The Philippines and Australia enjoy longstanding and robust diplomatic relations founded on shared democratic values, strong people-to-people ties, growing economic cooperation, and close collaboration in regional and multilateral affairs. In recent years, bilateral relations have continued to expand in the areas of trade and investment, education, defense and security cooperation, disaster resilience, and maritime cooperation. The two countries likewise work closely within ASEAN-led mechanisms and other international platforms in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

Ambassador Fernandez conveyed the Philippines’ warm greetings to the Australian High Commission and reaffirmed the importance of continued engagement and cooperation between the two countries.

The Ambassador’s attendance at the reception is a testament to the strength of Philippine-Australian relations and the Philippines’ commitment to further deepen and broaden these ties in the years ahead. END
