Visa
Foreign nationals who wish to enter the Philippines generally require a Philippine visa, which is placed in their passport—a travel document issued by their country of citizenship. Certain travelers may be eligible for visa-free entry under the Balikbayan Program or other exemptions.
Philippine visas can either be:- Single-entry visas: valid for a one-time entry; recommended for most visitors to avoid delays.
- Multiple-entry visas: allows the traveler to leave and re-enter the country multiple times during the set validity period; usually granted only to business travelers, relatives of Filipino citizens, or long-term visitors.
Visa Reminder
- A visa does not guarantee entry. Admission is determined by Philippine immigration officials at ports of entry.
- Entry may be denied to travelers who:
- Hold non-machine-readable passports (e.g., hand-scripted passports).
- Have been deported from the Philippines or appear on a DFA / Bureau of Immigration blacklist.
- Present incomplete documentation.
- Have other circumstances rendering them inadmissible under Philippine law.
- All visa applications must be lodged at least one month prior to intended travel.
- Consular staff may request additional documents to determine eligibility.
- The Embassy cannot expedite processing to match flight schedules.
- Visa fees are non-refundable, even if issued late or denied.
Important: Do not purchase airline tickets until your visa is approved. Temporary flight bookings are accepted for application purposes.
