ISLAMABAD, 26 October 2026—Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez and his spouse, Mme. Alicia Kalaw-Fernandez, joined the Filipino Overseas Workers in Islamabad (FOWI) Sportsfest 2026, reaffirming the Philippine Embassy’s commitment to the welfare, unity, and well-being of the Filipino community in Islamabad and across Pakistan.
In his message, Ambassador Fernandez emphasized that the Philippine Embassy delegation’s presence at the event was a testament to the importance he attaches to the Filipino community and its role in strengthening people-to-people ties between the Philippines and Pakistan.
“Sports teaches us that we can compete without ending up as enemies. In fact, competitions such as this teach us to rise above our differences and cooperate for our common good—a value that Filipino communities, wherever they may be in the world, must never forget,” the Ambassador said.
The Sportsfest brought together members of the Filipino community through friendly competition, team-building activities, and cultural presentations, fostering camaraderie, mutual understanding, and solidarity.
The Ambassador and his spouse were accompanied by Police Attaché Colonel Wilbert Charlie Perry A. Divina and his wife, Dr. Reggie J. Divina; Finance Officer Mr. Manuel R. Ramos; ATN Officer Mary Grace M. Recolizado; and the embassy’s IT expert Mr. Billy S. Aguilar.
The event underscored the importance of sports not only as a means of promoting health and recreation, but also as a platform for strengthening friendships, building trust, and nurturing a more united Filipino community overseas. END
